ATHENS--------- Former Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl Champion coach Tony Dungy will be the featured speaker at the annual University of Georgia spring football coaching clinic scheduled Thursday and Friday, March 25 and 26.

All sessions will be held at the Tate Student Center on the UGA campus.  Dungy will speak during the Friday session at 10:35 a.m.  The Thursday session will include Georgia team practice at Sanford Stadium and beak out sessions with the Georgia coaching staff.


Friday will feature a lineup of champion high school coaches including Mark Ledford, Wilcox County High School, Class A state champion; Bruce Miller, Gainesville High School, Class AAA state runnerup; Chad Campbell, Peach County High School, Class AAA state champion; Hal Lamb, Calhoun High School, Class AA state runnerup; Leroy Ryals, Clarke Central High School, Class AAAA state runnerup; Chip Walker, Sandy Creek High School, Class AAAA state champion; Conrad Nix, Northside Warner Robins High School, Class AAAAA state runnerup; Buck Godfrey, Southwest DeKalb High School; and Phil Jones, Shorter College.


Friday’s schedule will also feature a Georgia practice at Sanford Stadium.


Pre-registration fee is $40.00 (at the door is $50.00).  Fee includes all clinic lectures, gifts and UGA drill dvd, athletic equipment displays, Thursday night hospitality and dinner, and Friday FCA breakfast and box lunch.              


Dungy’s career began in 1980 as defensive backs coach at his alma mater, the University of Minnesota. In 1981, at age 25 he became an assistant coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers.  His 31 year NFL career culminated with seven years as head coach of the Colts including the 2007 Super Bowl championship run.               Additional information may be obtained by contacting Ray Lamb at the UGA football office, 706-542-1515.
