COLUMBIA, S.C. --- Ashley Houts was all but perfect shooting the basketball en route to a game-high 21 points in leading No. 24 Georgia (21-7, 8-7 SEC) to a 65-49 win over South Carolina (13-14, 6-9 SEC) here on Thursday night.

Houts was 7-of-7 from the field, including 3-of-3 from three-point range, and hit 4-of-5 free throws. She also had six assists and five rebounds. Jasmine James added 15 points, and Porsha Phillips notched her second straight double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

"The energy was good," Andy Landers said. "The execution was very good from a defensive standpoint for the most part. Overall, it was just a good, solid performance. There was better effort. Defensively, we were more on point with the things we talked about trying to accomplish. Offensively, we were able to get some shots in transition and we were also able to knock down shots."

The Lady Bulldogs pushed a four-point halftime lead to double digits less than five minutes into the second half and never allowed the Gamecocks closer than five thereafter.

When South Caroilna closed to 45-40 with 8:12 remaining, Georgia answered with a 14-2 run to end any doubt. Houts and James combined to score the first 13 points in the surge.

The Lady Bulldogs grabbed an early first-half lead and gradually expanded their advantage until it topped out at 17-8 on a three from Candace Williams at the 10:36 mark. However, Valerie Nainima hit three threes in a span of just 1:34 to tie the game at 21-21 with 5:55 remaining in the half.

South Carolina never grabbed the lead but tied the game again at 25-25 before Jasmine Hassell and Houts hit layups to close out the scoring in the stanza.

Georgia will return home on Sunday to host Arkansas in the regular-season finale at 2:00 p.m. That contest is the Lady Bulldogs' regular-season finale and will serve as "Senior Day," with players Ashley Houts, Christy Marshall and Angel Robinson and managers Renae Bracken and Chase Whtie honored prior to tipoff. In addition, the first 1,000 kids in attendance will receive webkinz wearing a t-shirt featuring the Lady Bulldog "g" logo.

Reserved-seat tickets for Lady Bulldog home games are $5 for adults and $3 for children and are available at http://www.georgiadogs.com or at the UGA Athletic Ticket Office in the Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall on Monday-Friday from 8:30-4:30.
