FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 19, 2009 UGA Sports Communications ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia soccer team will continue its spring season this weekend when the Bulldogs travel to Wake Forest for a game with the Demon Deacons at 1 p.m. Saturday at W. Dennie Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. It will be Georgia's second exhibition game of the spring, following its 1-0 loss to Florida State in the Bulldogs only home game of the exhibition season on Feb. 28. "We are very excited about the opportunity to play another quality opponent in Wake Forest this Saturday," head coach Patrick Baker said. "The team has come off spring break and continued to work hard in training this week. We have been addressing certain elements of our game that we saw from the Florida State scrimmage and are looking to show continual improvement." Wake Forest finished the 2008 season by earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships, but was eliminated in the second round of competition to James Madison, the team that knocked off Georgia in the first round of the tournament. The Demon Deacons defeated Morehead State 2-0 in the first round before falling to the Dukes in round two. Wake Forest finished the 2008 season with a 13-8 record. Saturday's game will be the first of the spring for Wake Forest. Georgia had its first glimpse of what the 2009 season might hold against Florida State three weeks ago, when the Bulldogs held the Seminoles to just one shot on goal, which was, however, the deciding score. The Georgia offensive combination of Carrie Patterson and Ashley Miller picked up where it left off in 2008, hoisting five shots between the two against the Seminoles. A complete recap of the game will be available at georgiadogs.com following the contest. The Bulldogs spring schedule will continue next weekend when Georgia will face two teams on March 28. At noon, Georgia will take on West Virginia and then at 2 p.m., the Bulldogs will face Tennessee. Both games will be played in Knoxville, Tenn.
